Nuns on the Bus 2015: Bridge the Divides, Transform Politics
Pope Francis's radical call is to change our politics, not just our policies. That’s why NETWORK's Nuns on the Bus went back on the road in 2015!
We find our nation’s politics mired in polarization and gridlock that harm everyone. For our democracy to survive, this has to change. All politicians and activists must move beyond polling data and soundbites to connect with real people – and to hear about the injustices they encounter daily. By listening to the people’s stories, all of us will find the seeds of 21st century solutions.
During this bus journey, we connected with people in our nation’s heartland and let their stories break open our hearts. Together, we took those stories to Congress to further strengthen the people’s bold call for change.
The work continues! Seek out the stories in your midst and share them with others. We all need to be missionaries of a new political reality. Help our nation bridge the divides that harm us so our politics will be healed. That is the way forward.
"I beg the Lord to grant us more politicians who are genuinely disturbed
by the state of society, the people, the lives of the poor!" ~ Pope Francis, Joy of the Gospel
"A healthy politics is sorely needed…" ~ Pope Francis, Laudato Si’ 181
